[Should anybody check in on her and her nightmare, they'll find themselves pulled into a desolate setting. It was as if the land was barren of life. There were no living trees or shrubbery to be found anywhere, only weeds and long-deceased trees. There is a significant lack of life around and most of the buildings around look like they've been abandoned for years; some of them were even in ruins or in a need of a lot of TLC.
The dreamwalker will at least be fortunate that no Cadavers have shown up just yet. Just a small Mahou looking exhausted and pushed past her limit. She was beaten to hell and her clothing was not in the best shape from all of her fights to stay alive; Anyone who met her when she had first woken up here will find this familiar. Mirai cautiously and slowly made her way to what looked to be an old grocery store of sorts. She was careful to keep in consideration that there could be dangers lurking anywhere.
The odds of finding any kind of food leftover that hadn't already been scavenged were slim to none, so she had a different plan. If she could find any food, she'd take it, but she wasn't holding out on that hope. After pulling open a rickety old door that had seen its fair share of abuse, she'd managed to open it up sliding inside once the rubble around it had been cleared enough. Wand out and ready, she quietly made her way down the store, finally arriving at the section she'd hope to find.
The gardening section. Food may be gone, but packs of seeds should still be here. No one was crazy enough to think much of their value with barren land full of cracks like this. Sweeping over her options, she didn't get far before she heard the cocking of a gun.]
Stay right there. Don't move.
[Turning just her head, careful to follow orders, she hadn't expected someone else to be here right at this moment. How unfortunate... She put her hands in front of her, assessing that it wasn't just one person, but a group of 4 people. An ambush? No, it's possible that if they had been camping out here, they would have been closely examining any activity that went on here; A misstep in her plans. It had been some times since she'd last seen any other Mahous around.]
So you think you're just going to walk in here in our turf and steal our supplies. Think again. You're going to leave and never come back, understood?
[Finally turning around slowly to face her assailant despite their warnings, she tried to access the situation the best she could. Letting out a small sigh to calm her nerves.]
I'm sorry. I don't mean to cause any trouble. I just came for these.
[The girl holding a gun up to her gave her a funny look before scuffing in response.]
Seeds? And what the hell do you plan to do with those?
[The trouble with magic taking on many forms was that it also meant that it was hard to say what this group of Mahous specialized in. If this girl chose a gun for her weapon of choice, it was possible that it was tied to her desires. Either way, it was too soon to say. Admitting that she could use the seeds and her magic to harvest food seemed foolish in this circumstance. There was a chance that they may not even grant her that.]
Well... they're of no use to you, yes? There should be no harm in me taking them so long as I don't take any food, right?
[The girl looked her over suspiciously and then back to her group of friends. After a moment, she put the gun away with a mocking laugh.]
Sure. But grab anything else and you know what comes next, don't you?
[Letting out a small sigh of relief, she remained on guard, nodding in response.]
Of course. I'll be on my way in just a moment. I promise.
[With permission to now grab the packets of seeds, she grabbed whatever she could, no longer bothering to check what they were. There hadn't been a lot of options, but it was better than nothing. She was about to leave when there was a commotion outside. Shit. Had they been too loud? It wasn't like she had time to check as a small shadowy-like figure that looked like it could be some sort of wolf with beady red eyes piercing through them emerged through the doorway. It came up to about her knee and she shoved the seeds packets in her bag, looking for escape routes. Of course they had to board up all the windows, leaving the door as the only exit. Taking a few small steps back, ready to fight if need be...]
We need to act fast.
[The girl who appeared to be the leader rolled her eyes, pointing her gun at the small Cadaver. A few of her friends got into position, surrounding the creature.]
What? For this little thing? This is hardly worth--
[And just like that she was interrupted by the baby Cadaver letting out a piercing screech. A moment later the door swung off of its hinges with extreme force, as if it had been ripped off. A tall Cadaver showed up at the door, looking much more menacing and more dangerous as it howled in response. One girl's panicked attack set the Cadaver in a rage, piercing her with amazing speed with its razor-sharp claws, tearing her apart. In retaliation, the others were called to action, only to be knocked into shelving and quickly set upon by three other Cadavers inviting themselves in. With her comrades otherwise engaged, the girl managed to slip out the door with a nonchalant shrug and brow raise as she left the others to die.]
W-Wait! Come back!
[How could the leader let her comrades die like this? She wanted to help them, but it was too late. There was no way they'd survive the attack even if she had stepped in. She was at a clear disadvantage here, trying her best to find a way around the Cadavers. Fighting in a cramped store like this wasn't a smart idea. It was too limited and the lack of space would be suicide to attempt something like that. Sometimes running was the better option. It was how she'd managed to stay alive thus far In between the fights she could take on after all.
Making a beeline for the opposite end of the aisle, she quickly directed a small wall of vines to poke from the tile and block the aisle off from them to slow them down. It wouldn't take long for them to catch up, so she did her best to hop over toppled shelves and dodged as many attacks as she could. In some cases, she had to use her staff to deflect a few of the blows, causing fresh cuts along her cheek and arms but nothing serious.
With the door finally in sight and no longer closed off, she slipped out of the store and down the road after sealing up the doorway. It wouldn't hold long in her state, but a headstart was better than nothing. Catching sight of the girl who'd threatened her, she ran over to her, wand out and ready.]
Why...? Why did you...? How could you...? [Letting out a sigh.] You would sacrifice your friends?
[She rolled her eyes at her once more, turning back to the pack of Cadavers she had been squaring off with at the moment.]
It was either them or me. Besides, just because you travel with someone doesn't make them your friends. It's a wonder how you're still alive with how soft you are.
--But still! How could you be so cold? Don't you care?
Look, hun. If you wax sentimental, you'll never make it in this world. It's kill or be killed. I have more important matters to handle than bringing you peace of mind that this world is fair. Wake up. It's not.
Let me help then. At least to get out of this situation.
I said I don't need your-- NNGGG
[With her distracted, a Cadaver stepped forward to slice at her side, crippling her to the ground as she shot it away. Bullets would only do so much, but it was better than nothing.]
O-Oh no! I'm so sorry! I... [Sending a piercing vine through the Cadaver, it crumpled to the ground.] I can heal you!
[She had just about started healing when the girl slapped her hand away with her free hand.]
Don't bother! There's no point. Nothing you do for me now will help.
...I hope this... is a lesson. [Her waist gashed open pretty bad and blood soaking her clothing and skin.] This is what ignorance breeds. Go.
G-Go..? But I can't just leave you here like--
I said go! Now. I'm sure as hell not going down without a fight, but you better not waste this chance.
[She was hesitant, doing her best to not let her guilt and fear get the best of her. Was this her fault...? Had she not distracted her... Deep down she knew that even if she could help her fight everything off, the blood loss would be too much. They didn't have the time to properly heal her up. Every part of her wanted to stay -- even for someone who seemed cold and uncaring -- but eventually, she forced herself to flee as the Cadavers hoarded the girl.
It wasn't as if they'd simply leave her be though. Cadavers seemed to be out and active now that there was fresh blood in the air. A new person to devour who couldn't easily escape. Was she no better than this girl leaving her comrades behind after all? There was nowhere to hide. All she could do is run and fight off any oncoming threats.
Being knocked around like a ragdoll took a lot out of her for how much mana she'd already used up to this point. It was getting to a dangerous low, but she couldn't just stop using magic. It was like the girl said. It was kill or be killed. Tumbling onto the ground, she pushed herself off of the ground, looking around for any cover or escape routes to find herself in a dead end in surrounded by a pack of Cadavers. Weakly pointing her staff towards them...]
